About the Puppet Patrol

The Puppet Patrol was developed to address the problem of children in grades
one through 4 being exposed to gangs and drugs. When speakers from our Community
Services Unit would talk to students in grades 5-12 on the dangers of gangs and
drugs, they felt that many of the children had already been exposed to them.
In order to reach children in grades one through 4, in a medium they could relate to, a
script was developed and 3-foot tall puppets were designed to act out the dialogue.

This interaction between the puppets and primary students is an effective way
to teach young children about the dangers of gangs and drugs, and the choices they have . . .
