Cook County State's Attorney's Office
Investigations Bureau Employment

Investigations Bureau Overview
The Investigation Bureau has over 160 investigators who possess full police powers under the Illinois statutes. This Bureau has two divisions: Trial Support and Narcotics/Special Investigations Division. Each of these Divisions has a number of functional Sections and Units. The goals of the Investigations Bureau are threefold: (1) to provide investigative and logistical support to Assistant State's Attorney's in their preparation and presentation of cases scheduled for trial, (2) to complement or supplement local law enforcement efforts by providing them with investigative assistance, expertise and technical resources, and (3) to initiate and conduct investigations of offenses which are very specialized and which, for a number of reasons, may not be handled by other law enforcement agencies, e.g., official misconduct, public integrity, election fraud, child support, domestic violence, and complex financial crimes.

Investigations Bureau Employment
Candidates interested in positions as investigators must either possess a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Criminal Justice or related field, or they must have ten (10) years full-time experience as a Federal, State, County or Municipal Law Enforcement Officer. Experience as a certified correctional officer or court security deputy does not meet this requirement. If you meet the specified qualifications above, and are interested in obtaining an employment application, please contact the Investigations Bureau at (773) 674-7223.
