State's Attorney Names Elk Grove Village
Flooring Business In Consumer Fraud Suit

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez filed a lawsuit against an Elk Grove business and its owner, for multiple violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act and Deceptive Business Practices Act and the Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act.

A & W Flooring and its owner/operator, Andrzej Labak, of 19 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Elk Grove Village, Illinois is accused of failing to install wood and/or tile flooring for customers in Park Forest and Chicago, Illinois.  The defendant also failed to refund deposits paid by customers under contract, even after written requests by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The suit also charges Labak with failing to notify consumers of their three-day right to cancel, failing to provide them with a "Home Repair: Know Your Rights" pamphlet, and failing to include a business address in written contracts, with the costs of materials and parts specified as required by law.

The suit seeks a permanent injunction against Andrzej Labak, refunds for consumers and a $50,000 civil penalty.
