FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cook County prosecutors have charged a South Suburban man in connection with the shooting of his pregnant girlfriend and her sister following a domestic dispute at a Park Forest home this past July, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez. Bond was set at $1.5 million today for Timothy Lucas, 31, who has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the July 18 shooting. According to prosecutors, Lucas was living with his girlfriend in Park Forest when the incident occurred. Lucas became involved in an altercation with children living in the home and began beating the children when the victim interceded. According to prosecutors, Lucas then attacked the victim, who was pregnant, shooting her multiple times and also shooting her sister in the leg and face. The pregnant victim’s unborn child was unharmed in the attack and she has recovered from her gunshot wounds. The victim’s sister remains hospitalized as a result of her injuries. Lucas appeared before Judge Darren Bowden at the Markham courthouse today and his case was continued to November 25. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of thirty years for each count if he is convicted.
