FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 16, 2011 West Side Gang Members Face Charges In The defendants were arrested Tuesday and were scheduled to be in bond court today following the criminal drug conspiracy investigation, conducted by the Chicago Police Department’s Gang Investigation and Asset Forfeiture units, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area). According to authorities, the investigation focused on members of the Four Corner Hustlers Street Gang and other individuals involved in drug trafficking on the West Side. The operation involved the use of undercover purchases of drugs, video surveillance as well as covert recordings. Authorities were able to determine that the gang was receiving narcotics through private shipping deliveries as well as the United States mail and having the drugs delivered to fictitious West Side addresses. Working with postal officials, investigators were able to trace the deliveries to an individual supplier in California. During the course of the investigation, Chicago Police recovered large amounts of narcotics including cocaine, marijuana and heroin. Police also seized more than $15,000 in cash and several guns during Tuesday’s arrests.

Long-term Narcotics Investigation
Eleven men have been arrested following a long-term joint investigation into a gang-related drug ring operating on Chicago’s West Side that was importing drugs from California through the mail to sell on the streets of Chicago, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Chicago Police Department.
