FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 30, 2011 Wilmette Man Convicted In Christmas Day Murder Anthony Rapoport, 25, pled guilty today to the murder of Nancee Rapoport, 49, which occurred as the two argued on Christmas Day last year in their home in Wilmette. Rapoport pled guilty to First Degree Murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison during his court appearance at the Cook County Circuit Courthouse in Skokie. According to prosecutors, Nancee Rapoport and the defendant lived together in a house in the 3100 Block of Hill Lane in Wilmette with several other relatives. On December 25, 2010 the victim and the defendant got into an argument over money and cell phones. As the argument escalated, Rapoport went to a closet in the home and retrieved a baseball bat. He swung the bat and struck Nancee Rapoport once in the head and then struck her again after she fell to the ground. A relative who lived in the home and witnessed the attack fled the home as he struck the victim a second time. The defendant attempted to hide the weapon behind a dresser in a bedroom. He retrieved a knife from the kitchen and placed it near the victim’s body to a make it appear that she had been holding it during the altercation. When he left the home, Rapoport was met by two other relatives he had previously called during the argument. Concerned they had come to the house and when they entered they discovered the victim’s body and called 911. Rapoport was located a few blocks away by police, taken into custody and ultimately charged with the murder. State’s Attorney Alvarez thanked the Wilmette Police Department and Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Morris for their hard work on the case.
