FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Today a Cook County judge sentenced a witness in a murder case to 13 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for refusing to testify during the trial. Judge Dennis Dernbach sentenced Jeremy House, 22 of 1711 N. Keating, after he plead guilty to one count of direct criminal contempt. House refused to testify in the case involving his half brother Steven Hebron, who was charged with the 2004 murder of Keith Tiggs. Hebron was found not guilty in September. According to prosecutors this is the longest prison sentence handed down for a contempt charge. House has been in Cook County Jail since June 2007.
