INVESTIGATIONS BUREAU
The Investigation Bureau has over 180 investigators
who possess full police powers under the Illinois statues.
This Bureau has two divisions: Trial Support and Special
Investigations/Narcotics. Each of these divisions has
a number of functional sections and units. The goals
of the Investigations Bureau are threefold: (1) to provide
investigative and logistical support to assistant state's
attorney's in their preparation and presentation of
cases scheduled for trial, (2) to complement or supplement
local law enforcement efforts by providing them with
investigative assistance, expertise and technical resources,
and (3) to initiate and conduct investigations of offenses
which are very specialized and which, for a number of
reasons, may not be handled by other law enforcement
agencies, i.e. official misconduct, public integrity,
election fraud, child support, and complex financial
crimes.
