State's Attorney Devine Salutes Winners
of Anti-Drug Poster Contest
Cook County State's Attorney Richard
A. Devine will honor the winners of the State's Attorney's
Anti-Drug Poster Contest in a ceremony on Tuesday,
May 16th at 2:00 p.m. The winning posters will
be featured in the 2007 Anti-Drug calendar, which
is distributed to elementary schools throughout
the county as a tool for drug prevention.
The annual contest is open to all sixth,
seventh and eighth grade students in Cook County.
The winners of the sixth grade contest are: First
place - John Nowobilski, St. Albert the Great
School, Burbank; Second place - Ruba Saleh, St. Beatrice
School, Schiller Park; Third place -
Alyssa Visvardis, St. Mary School, Riverside and Ivonne
Duran, St. Mary of Czestochowa School,
Cicero; and Fourth place - Diamond Burgess, Calvary
Academy, South Holland.
The winners of the seventh grade contest
are: First place - Vanessa Ariel Castro, Liberty Junior
High School, Burbank; Second place - Ashley Long,
Memorial Junior High, Lansing;
Third place - Sarah Anderson, Ascension School, Oak
Park; and Fourth place - Ben Jones,
Memorial Junior High, Lansing.
The winners of the eighth grade contest
are: First place - Lisette Franco, Rosario Castellanos
School,
Chicago; Second place - Miranda Hill, Memorial Junior
High, Lansing; Third place - Kristen LaDuke,
Memorial Junior High, Lansing; and Fourth place -
Connie Yan, Mark Sheridan School, Chicago.
Each winner will receive a $50 savings
bond donated by Midwest Bank & Trust Company,
tickets to a Chicago Cubs game, tickets to a Goodman
Theater performance, and a "Say No
To Drugs" T-Shirt.
The ceremony will take place in the
Great Hall of the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy
Pier,
700 E. Grand Avenue.
