Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York Antoinette T. Bacon has been appointed by Attorney General William P. Barr, pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 3345(a)(3), to be interim United States Attorney, wherein U.S. Attorney Bacon assumed office on September 2, 2020.

Education and Memberships
A graduate of Bachelor in Arts in Communications, Law, Economics, and Government from the American University School of Public Affairs, United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon subsequently received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia.
Legal Career
In August of 2000, U.S. Attorney Bacon began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk at the United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. It served under The Honorable Henry Coke Morgan Jr. for over a year, until August of 2001.
First joining the Department of Justice through the Honors Program as a Trial Attorney at the United States Department of Justice – Antitrust Division in September 2001, U.S. Attorney Bacon served in the office for four years and ten months until June of 2006. As a trial attorney, she was responsible for investigating international price-fixing cartels.
Later on, United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio as an Assistant United States Attorney. In this capacity, she became an established and well-recognized litigator, specializing and leading prosecutions on abuse, corruption, fraud, and waste. Furthermore, she became eminent in prosecuting corruption cases, wherein she managed to successfully prosecute approximately 100 targets as she led one of the largest investigation and legal action taken against corruption – the Cuyahoga County Corruption Case. This particular investigation was focused on the prosecution of over 60 public officials and business executive, that which includes a Cleveland City Council Member, a County Auditor, a County Commissioner, two senior hospital executives, two sitting judges, two union leaders, five former attorneys, and nine prosecutors. The Cuyahoga County Corruption Case brought a massive reform to the Cuyahoga County government. United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon became Senior Litigation Counsel at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. It served in the Office for about ten years and seven months from July of 2006 to January of 2017.
Prior to re-joining the United States Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney Bacon was the national White Collar Crime Coordination at the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. In this position, she was responsible for collaborating with corporate counsel, federal agencies, lawmakers, prosecutors overall 96 United States Attorney’s Offices, and several other stakeholders in order to address the most consequential economic crime threats to the nation.
As the former Associate National Elder Justice Coordinator, United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon founded the Money Mule Initiative, as well the National Nursing Home Initiative, which aimed to protect the elderly from fraud schemes and abuse. Additionally, U.S. Attorney Bacon presented great efforts to expand the undertaking of the U.S. Department of Justice in line with the dismantling of Transnational Criminal Organizations, which targeted older Americans. She was also the principal supervisor who spearheaded three of the largest prosecutions involving Elder Fraud. Being an Associate Deputy Attorney General, United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon worked as an assistant to the Deputy Attorney General and aided in formulating and implementing policies such as the execution of The First Step Act – a bipartisan Criminal Justice Reform Legislation.
Honors and Awards
With her exemplary service and prowess in prosecuting criminal cases, U.S. Attorney Bacon is highly acknowledged. She has received two of the highest awards in the Department of Justice, including the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service given by the United States Attorney General, and the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney – Appellate given by the Executive Office of the United States. Furthermore, United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon received recognition and was honored under the Crain’s 40 Under 40. She was also awarded the Euclid YMCA Volunteer of the Year 2011, and the IRS Chief’s Investigative Excellence Award given by the Internal Revenue Service.
Office Jurisdiction
As the interim United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York, Antoinette T. Bacon is the Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the District and is responsible for overseeing approximately 49 Assistant United States Attorneys, and 64 support personnel. Additionally, her office is in charge of federal crimes involving public corruption, firearms, financial fraud, and narcotics, among others. The office also manages civil cases involving the United States and recovers debts owed to the United States.
