Ariana Fajardo Orshan is the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida for the U.S. Department of Justice. Mrs. Fajardo Orshan is an American lawyer.
Mrs. Fajardo Orshan’s nomination was sent to the Senate by the U.S. President, Donald Trump on June 7, 2018. The United States Senate confirmed Mrs. Fajardo Orshan’s nomination through a voice vote, on August 28, 2018. She swore as the chief federal law enforcement officer of the Southern District of Florida on September 18, 2018. She was guided for the oath by the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District, K. Michael Moore.
As the U.S. Attorney of the district, Ariana Fajardo Orshan has been serving her four-year term. She serves as the principal litigator for the nine counties in Southern District of Florida, which is headquartered in Miami. Ariana Fajardo Orshan is the chief federal law enforcement officer and defends the civil actions and the tax affairs of the Government. The district extends from Key West in the South to Vero Beach in the North. The counties include Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River. The other staffed offices are in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Key West, and Ft. Pierce.
Law Career
Before she started her work in the United States Attorney Office, Ariana Fajardo Orshan has worked as a Judge at the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, Miami-Dade County in Florida. Governor Rick Scott appointed her. Next, she became a partner in a boutique law firm, where she was a litigator. Ariana Fajardo Orshan has also served as an assistant professor at the Florida International University College of Law.
Ariana Fajardo Orshan started her law career at the post of an Assistant State Attorney of Miami-Dade County. At this post, she handled the prosecution of several narcotics and organized crimes.
Academic Background
Ariana Fajardo Orshan joined the Florida International University for her undergraduate degree. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree from there. Mrs. Fajardo Orshan earned her J.D. from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law.
