Christina E. Nolan states attorney for the District of Vermont

Christina E. Nolan, the current United States Attorney for the District of Vermont, broke the glass ceiling by becoming the first female attorney in the district. In 2017, Nolan got nominated by President Donald Trump for the position of U.S. and confirmed by the Senate. A Vermont native, Nolan graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1997. In high school, she also got recognized as an athlete in the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

 

Law Career

Nolan started her career as a law clerk in the United States District Court of Massachusetts. She then served as the Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney Office. Later, she got the position of Litigation Associate in Goodwin Procter LLP. It was at Goodwin Procter, where she concentrated on white-collar crimes. Nolan then served the longest period of her career as the Assistant U.S. Attorney of Vermont from 2010-2017.

 

Vermont and Massachusetts Bar Associations

Attorney Christina E. Nolan is a member of the Vermont and Massachusetts Bar Associations and the top-ranking law official in Vermont. Her passionate work against white-collar crimes and strong stand against injustice received her recognition. She received the New England Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association Award for Outstanding Contribution twice, as a federal prosecutor.

 

Greatest Cases & Achievements

In her long and successful career, Nolan prosecuted an extensive range of white-collar crimes. Her main concerns remained money laundering and drug trafficking. She also took legal actions against many firearms offenses, crimes against children, and violent crimes. Nolan and her office outdid themselves when they prosecuted a defrauding Health Records company and reached a settlement of $57 million. It was the second-largest recovery in the district of Vermont

Among all her greatest feats is also the case of Brian Folks. Folks was guilty of 13 felonies. These included force, coercion, fraud, and sex and drug trafficking.

In all the time she held the office, Christina E. Nolan investigated networks of crime rings, organized crimes, and planned fraudulent activities. As a result of her relentless work, she uncovered various offenses. Not only did she brought justice to the victims, but she also protected the future of Vermont’s residents from such horrors.

 

Educational Background

She then received her bachelor’s degree in political science and history with departmental honors, from the University of Vermont in 2001. In 2004, she graduated from Boston College Law School with her law degree.

 

Role in the Community

Everyone praised Nolan’s ambition to bring justice to all victims and cut-down crimes. As a result, both Senator Patrick Leahy and Governor Phil Scott recommended her for the office of District Attorney.

U.S. Attorney Christina E. Nolan takes her roles and responsibilities to heart. She has excellent work ethics and a drive to make Vermont a safer place. This is what lead her to become the first-ever female attorney in Vermont.

During her swearing-in ceremony, she talked about being the first woman in her position. Nolan hopes that the children in Vermont and elsewhere to believe that they can do anything.
