David L. Anderson
David L. Anderson is the United States Attorney, the Northern District of California, U.S. Department of Justice. After being nominated for the post by the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, on August 16, 2018. He was affirmed for the position by the U.S. Senate through a voice vote on January 2, 2019. Anderson took the oath of office for the post of the U.S. attorney from the Chief U.S. District Court Judge Richard Seeborg on January 15, 2019. The swearing ceremony was private. He was preceded by Melinda L. Haag.
David L. Anderson is an American Lawyer with expertise in criminal defense and commercial trials. At this post, he will be serving as the Federal law enforcement officer for the Northern District of California. Anderson handles federal affairs of the district, including major cities in the District, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. The district includes 15 counties and extends from Del Norte in the north to Monterey in the south. He handles civil litigation in the Northern District of California.

During the earlier phase of his law career, Anderson was undergoing private practice at the law firm of Sidley Austin LLP. David L. Anderson has been into private practice for 20 years. He has served as the Attorney for the Criminal Justice Act panel. He has worked for cases involving several corporate as well as individual clients.
David L. Anderson has also been a part of the Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys chosen by Attorney General William Barr. The AGAC is responsible for assisting the Attorney General of the United States with advice concerning the state’s welfare. Anderson was amongst the nine Attorneys in the AGAC. Anderson has also been elected as the Assistant U.S. Attorney from the year 1998 to 2002.
During the year 1991 to 1992, David L. Anderson clerked for Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, U.S. Supreme Court. He also clerked for Chief Judge J. Clifford Wallace from the year 1990 to 1991. He worked for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Anderson has clerked for Judge George H. Aldrich from 1992 to 1993. Aldrich was the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in the Hague, Netherlands.
From the year 2008 to 2010, he served his tenure as the First Assistant United States Attorney.
David L. Anderson has been a professor at Hastings College of the Law. He taught securities regulation.
Academic Background
David L. Anderson attended his undergraduate course at the San José State University in San Jose, California. He completed his Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University in the year 1985. Anderson obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School, Palo Alto, California, with distinction in 1990.
