John W. Huber states Attorney for the district of utah

The present United States Attorney for the District of Utah, John W. Huber, has been in office since 2015.

Huber’s hard work and passion for fighting against bullies raised him through the ranks. In 1996, he got appointed as the Deputy Prosecutor. Three years later, he was the Chief Prosecutor. In 2002, he became the Assistant U.S. Attorney, and he served for the position for 13 years. The Obama Administration elected Huber in June 2015 to serve as United States Attorney and lead federal law enforcement officials of Utah. In 2017, he was re-nominated by President Donald Trump to serve his tenure for the next four years.

Law Career

At his first swearing-in ceremony, Huber’s introduction was that of a protector against bullies, and it reflected in his work over the years. Mr. Huber put bullies behind bars, handled violent crimes, stood up against domestic violence, and dealt with national security cases.

As a career prosecutor, Huber has also worked on many high-profile cases. As a member of the AGAC’s Terrorism and National Security Subcommittee, he was tasked with looking into the matter of FBI misconduct, as claimed by the Republican government. He also investigated Hillary Clinton’s ties with the Russian nuclear agency, Uranium One. Furthermore, he prosecuted four people for firearms crimes in the Trolley Square shooting in 2007.  Before taking his position as the United States Attorney for the District of Utah, Huber took on a leadership role in the U.S. Attorney Office Sessions’ advisory committee.

Educational Background

Presidentially elected twice, the American lawyer John Huber got his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Utah in 1989. He further studied at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 1995. Huber’s professional career started from the Attorney’s office in Weber County, Utah, in the same year he graduated.

Huber’s Law Firm

Huber’s firm stand against violent crimes, and his success in bringing justice to the victims, earned him recognition very early on in his career. In 2004, he received recognition for his work by Attorney General John Ashcroft. In 2010, Attorney General Eric Holder honored him for his excellent performance as a federal prosecutor.

With the increasing number of violent crimes in Utah, Mr. Huber seems to have his work cut out for him during his entire career. Yet, he remained resolute and focused on bringing down the number of crimes. He targeted prosecutions against the rising number of fraudsters that created terror in Utah’s residents.

Areas of Expertise

U.S Attorney John W. Huber earned great respect for the expertise that he gained during his career, in many subject matters. He has conducted several training programs to make America a safe place, and free from violent crimes, terrorism, domestic violence, firearms crimes, illegal immigration, substance abuse, and similar evils.

Rocky Mountain High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area

Another battle that Mr. Huber faced, as the chairman of the executive board of the Rocky Mountain High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, is that of the Opioid Crisis in Utah. Opioid has killed and continues to kill thousands of Americans every day. The Attorney’s office in Utah filed several lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies to stop the distribution of this controlled substance.

Huber and his team also convicted drug dealer Aaron Shamo. Once again, Attorney General Sean D. Reyes commended Huber for his work.
