Robert M. Duncan, Jr.
Robert M. Duncan, Jr. is the present United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky (EDKY). President Trump nominated Duncan for U.S. Attorney on August 3rd, 2017, and U.S. Senate confirmed him as United States Attorney on November 9th, 2017. No doubt, Mr. Duncan is the high-ranking official for federal law enforcement in the Eastern District of Kentucky.
This district is comprised of 67 easternmost counties in the commonwealth. More precisely, the eastern district of Kentucky has a population of around 2.2 million, including cities of Covington, Lexington, Frankfort, Pikeville, Ashland, Somerset, and London. Robert M. Duncan, Jr. is entitled to serve as the 23rd U.S Attorney for this district who has presidentially appointed. Of note, the Eastern District of Kentucky was first established in 1901.

As U.S. Attorney, Robert M. Duncan is responsible for overseeing the staff of almost 110 contractors and employees, inclusive of around 49 Assistant U.S. Attorneys. The Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky prosecutes federal crimes in the entire district, more precisely crimes associated with public corruption, firearms, terrorism, child exploitation, and narcotics. Besides, the Office defends the U.S in its civil cases, and it collects debts that are owed to the country.

Before the appointment of Robert M. Duncan, Jr. as U.S Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky (EDKY), he was serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for almost a decade. At the start of 2011 and until his appointment, Mr. Duncan prosecuted cases of OCDETF (Organised Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force). He also worked with federal, state, as well as local enforcement personnel to disrupt and dismantle organizations operating in the eastern district of Kentucky and elsewhere, which are involved in crimes like money laundering and drug trafficking.
Role in The Community
Duncan has also worked as a coordinator in programs of the Office, such as Project Safe Neighbourhoods Program. This was the initiative of the Department of Justice with the purpose to alleviate gun and gang crime through prosecution, education, and community reach. Furthermore, throughout his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Duncan has dealt with several criminal matters such as cases related to violent crimes, public corruption, immigration offenses, environmental crimes, white-collar offenses, as well as child exploitation crimes. Besides, he worked as a Professional Responsibility Officer. In this role, he provided advice regarding legal ethics. It was in January 2005 when Robert M. Duncan, Jr. first joined U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Education
Robert M. Duncan, Jr. has done his bachelor’s in English and minor in History. He received his graduate degree in 2000 from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Afterwards, in 2003, Duncan received his J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Personal Life
Considering his personal life, Duncan was brought up in Inez, Kentucky, along the border of Commonwealth with West Virginia. In 1996, he received an education from Sheldon Clark High School. Duncan completed his graduation from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Later, he received his Juris Doctor (J.D) degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law located in Lexington, Kentucky. Moreover, Duncan and his wife, Valerie, live with their children in Lexington.
