- Child Abuse – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has different divisions that tackle specific cases. For child abuse cases involving adult offenders, you may obtain the services of the Sexual Crimes Division. On the other hand, for child abuse cases involving Juvenile Offenders, you may obtain the services of the Juvenile Justice Bureau.

- Child Support – The services of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Child Support Enforcement Division may be acquired to assist parents seeking to establish parentage and/or child support. Individuals seeking to enforce child support orders may also request the services of the Office, which may be reached through the Illinois Department of Public Aid’s IV-D Program.

- Child Witnesses – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Victim/Witness Assistance Unit may be tapped for assistance for victims and witnesses, specifically for “Kids in Court” private orientation session before court appearances, and Children’s Court Support Group.

- Community Outreach Service Unit – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has representatives of the Community Outreach Service Unit stationed in Chicago’s 25 minority communities, police districts, and suburban areas.

- Consumer Fraud – For individuals victimized by fraudulent schemes, or individuals who may have information on suspected offenders of consumer fraud, you may obtain the services of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Consumer Fraud Division.

- Court Orientation, Dates, and General Information – Victim and witness assistance for information on dates, location, and time of court hearings and seminars, as well as information general information regarding the criminal justice system can be obtained from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Victim/Witness Assistance Unit

- Domestic Violence – For emergency cases, please call your local police. For victims of domestic abuse, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office may provide assistance in obtaining and enforcing orders of protection, as well as in the prosecution of the abuser. Victims living in the City in Chicago may obtain the services of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Domestic Violence Division. Victims living in the suburbs may obtain the assistance of the specific district courthouse in your suburb, which may be reached through your local police.

- Drugs – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has a specific division for the prosecution of narcotics cases and seizing of assets from drug dealers, and the shutting down of drug houses, which are the Narcotics Prosecutions Bureau, and the Narcotics Nuisance Abatement Unit, respectively. Reports on drug houses and drug activities shall be made on your local police stations.

- Drunk Driving – Prosecution of drunk and drugged drivers is vigorously done by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Community Prosecutions Unit. Reports on incidents involving driving the influence of either alcohol or drugs shall be made on your local police stations.

- Elder Abuse – For cases involving elderly abuse such as the abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, reports shall be made to the local police, as well as to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Elder Abuse helpline.

- Environmental Crimes – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Environmental Division is available to take reports and concerns regarding land, water, air, or noise polluters, as well as those who are violators or hazardous waste policies and hazardous workplace environment.

- Financial Crimes – Victims of financial crimes or reports and information on abusers or illegal users of Public Aid Benefits may be coursed through to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Financial and Governmental Fraud Unit.

- Gang Crimes – Reports on street gang activities, including graffiti, shall be made on your local police stations.

- Hate Crimes – Hate crimes, including criminal acts that are motivated by a victim’s actual or perceived ancestry, color, creed, gender, mental disability, national origin, physical disability, race, religion, or sexual orientation, shall be immediately reported to the local police. - Homicide Services/Support Groups – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Victim/Witness Assistance Unit offers assistance to families and homicide victims, including special programs such as support groups, and information such as dates, times, location, and other general information on cases.

- Interpreters – Foreign Language and Sign Language interpreters may be arranged, as needed, through the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Victim/Witness Assistance Unit.

- Juvenile Crimes – Criminals under the age of 17 are usually prosecuted in the Cook County Circuit Court – Juvenile Division. For suburban juvenile cases, the suburban courthouses hear their cases. Under certain circumstances, the law permits juveniles to be tried as adults. For more information on the matter, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Juvenile Justice Bureau may be contacted.

- Mental Health – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Mental Health Division may be reached for assistance and information on voluntary hospitalization of individuals with mental disabilities, especially those who are a danger to themselves or others, and those who are currently unable to care for their basic physical needs.

- Official Misconduct – Reports on suspected official misconduct, specifically involving government employees or elected officials, may be coursed through to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Public Integrity Unit.

- Publications – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office offers several publications on a wide variety of subjects, including child support, consumer fraud, criminal courts, hate crimes, domestic violence, hate crimes, juvenile court, lesbian and gay legal resources, senior citizens’ legal resources, and stalking. - Senior Citizens – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Elder Abuse Helpline are accepting complaints regarding the quality of care provided to the elderly, or the financial exploitation of the elderly. Furthermore, the Office’s Victim/Witness Assistance Unit offers services to senior crime victims and witnesses. - Sex Crimes – For emergency cases involving sex crimes and child molestation cases shall be first reported to you local police. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Sexual Crimes Division supervises the prosecution of sex crime cases. In addition, the Office’s Victim/Witness Sexual Assault Unit offers assistance for sexual assault victims, as well as witnesses for such crimes.

- Spanish Language Resources – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has available Spanish speaking attorneys and bilingual speakers for school and organizations, whose services may be requested for through the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Victim/Witness Assistance Unit and the Speakers Bureau.

- Victim Compensation and Victims’ Rights – A wide-range of services to crime victims and witness such as assistance in obtaining financial compensation from other law enforcement agencies of community organizations, are offered by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
