John F. Bash
American attorney John F. Bash III was sworn in as United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas by Chief United States District Judge Orlando Garcia on December 12, 2017. John F. Bash is a presidential nominee, nominated by President Donald Trump on September 11, 2017, as a part of the Sixth Wave of United States Attorney Nominees. On November 9, 2017, John Bash’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate by Voice Vote.

Educational Background
Summa Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University, John F. Bash III earned his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts in History and Literature in 2003, and subsequently received his Doctor of Law at the Harvard Law School in 2006, graduating Cum Laude.
Legal Career
Following his graduation from law school, John Bash began his legal career by joining the office of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, working as a Law Clerk under the Honorable Brett M. Kavanaugh from 2006 to 2007. After this, he also clerked for the Honorable Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court of the United States. Through these years, John Bash focused on doing legal research and writing, investigating appellate briefs and case records, preparing a draft of opinions, and other duties.
In 2008, John F. Bash III decided to switch to private practice and to become an Associate at the Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, focusing on complex litigations in federal district and appellate courts. John Bash worked in the private law firm for four years, from 2008 to 2012, before becoming Assistant to the former Solicitor General Donald Verrilli at the United States Department of Justice, from 2012 to 2017. As an Assistant to the Solicitor General, John F. Bash represented the federal government of the United States before the Supreme Court, arguing 10 cases of criminal and civil litigations. Furthermore, he supervised and conducted investigations and litigations on numerous cases involving a wide range of legal cases involving the United States. John Bash, at the time, focused on national security and criminal law.
Later on, John Bash worked as a Special Assistant and Associate Counsel to President Donald Trump at The White House for a few months before becoming United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas. John F. Bash mainly worked on litigations in order of the President’s equities, with the help of the Department of Justice. Furthermore, his work focused on executive orders challenged in court.
Bar Admissions and Memberships
Having worked in both the District of Texas and District of Columbia, John Bash is an active member of the Texas Bar Association since 2009, and of the Bar Association of District of Columbia since 2010. Attorney John Bash is also a member of The Federalist Society.
Office Jurisdiction and Mission
Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the Western District of Texas, John F. Bash III has the substantive experience and a formidable resume. At the age of 37, Attorney John Bash is currently the youngest attorney in the previous decades to serve as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas. At present, John Bash oversees 68 counties, with offices in San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Midland, Del Rio, Waco, and Alpine. As the head of the office, John F. Bash supervises approximately 250 employees. Furthermore, the office is in charge of federal crimes involving public corruption, firearms, financial fraud, and narcotics. Additionally, the office manages civil cases involving the United States and recovers debts owed to the United States. As stated, their mission is “to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans,” with a focus on violent crime, public corruption, border security, and national security.
