Timothy A. Garrison
United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Timothy Allen Garrison, is the district’s chief federal prosecutor. He was a part of the Eleventh Wave of United States Attorney Nominees by President Donald Trump, which was released on February 16, 2018. U.S. Attorney Garrison’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate by Voice Vote on April 26, 2018. Prior to the official appointment, Timothy A. Garrison was interim U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri from January 4 to April 26, 2018, until he was sworn in by Judge Duane Benton, U.S. Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eight Circuit.

Education and Academic Honors and Awards
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Drury University in 1998, Timothy A. Garrison has received numerous academic honors and awards, including Music, Leadership, and Academic Scholarship, the Beulah Logan Highfill Endowed Scholarship and the Missouri “Bright Flight” Scholarship. Atty Garrison also studied in the Washington University School of Law – St. Louis, Missouri, also receiving an academic scholarship. In 2002, Timothy Garrison earned his Master of Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Columbia Truman School of Public Affairs. Subsequently, he earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2003. Furthermore, he received a Certificate in Tax Law and was a member of the Missouri Environmental Law and Policy Review.
Early Career and U.S. Marine Service
Prior to his appointment at the United States Attorney’s Office, Timothy A. Garrison first served at the United States Marine Corps and has continued to serve the U.S. Marine Corps throughout his legal career. He started as an Officer Candidate of the Officer Candidates School – Marine Corps Base Quantico, in 1999, and again in 2003. He also became a student of the Basic Officer Course at The Basic School in 2004. After embarking on his law career, Timothy Allen Garrison began serving as a Student Judge Advocate at the Naval Justice School – Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island in 2004, and then as a Legal Assistance Attorney of the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. His duty was mainly to provide general legal advice regarding contracts, family law, estate planning, and immigration law.
In 2005, Attorney Garrison became Officer-in-Charge at the Camp Pendleton Tax Center, and then a Trial Counsel of the Headquarters and Support Battalion, where he was a part of the litigation process of violations of a U.S. Military personnel in Iraq, involving the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Later on, his service at the United States Marine Corps shifted focus to legal matters. He left Active Duty and began working on Reserve Duty. He worked as a Regional Judge Advocate at the Headquarters Marine Corps, Judge Advocate Division, Reserve Legal Support Branch from 2007 to 2012, providing legal assistance and command services. Timothy Garrison also became Deputy Staff Judge Advocate of the 4th Marine Division. He continued to provide legal assistance, while also contributing command investigations and legal reviews to the administrative separations.
Timothy A. Garrison has also served as a Command Judge Advocate as a part of the Task Force Belleau Wood, International Security Assistance Force – Regional Command (Southwest) from 2013 to 2014. In this capacity, he was Chief of Operational Law for Regional Command, providing international and operation law advice to the commanding general and subordinate commanders. He also supervised four other judge advocates in those years. Subsequently, he became Military Judge Branch Individual Mobilization Augmentee for two years, from 2014 to 2016. He was back to serving at the Headquarters Marine Corps at the Pentagon, conducting legal research, and providing training modules and practice advisories for active-duty military prosecutors. Then, Timothy A. Garrison became a Deputy Legal Counsel at the Joint Chiefs of Staff of The Pentagon in October of 2016. He was a representative of the chairman in his interests in the interagency while conducting a legal review of policy changes and the Department of Defense’s proposed actions.
A career as a Federal Prosecutor
The career of Timothy Garrison as a federal prosecutor was solely at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, where he was Special Assistant United States Attorney from 2007 to 2010, and then an Assistant United States Attorney from 2010 to 2016. In these years, Timothy A. Garrison specialized in interstate and international drug trafficking offenses. He also prosecuted matters involving firearms, money laundering offenses, tax evasion, murder, and sex offenses.
Military and Civilian Professional Honors and Awards
With the number of years Timothy A. Garrison has dedicated to serving the U.S. Marine Corps, he has been given numerous honors and awards including the National Defense Service Medal in 2003, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal in 2004, and the Award for Excellence in Advocacy from The (Army) Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in 2006. Also including the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, all received in the year 2007. Timothy Garrison had also been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2008, the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal in 2010, a bronze star in lieu of the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal in 2013, and a gold star of the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal in 2012. Furthermore, Timothy A. Garrison has received a massive outpouring of awards in 2014. He earned the Meritorious Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the NATO Medal – International Security Assistance Force Afghanistan. In 2013, Mr. Garrison received the Missouri Bar Foundation David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award. In 2016, the Springfield Business Journal “40 Under 40” recognition.
Bar and Court Admissions
Timothy A. Garrison is an active member of the Missouri Bar since 2013 and is a former member of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies from 2001 to 2003, and of the Republican National Lawyers Association from 2006 to 2013. Moreover, Timothy Allen Garrison has active memberships to several Court Admissions, including the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit since 2007, and Missouri Supreme Court since 2003. He is also qualified and certified to be detailed as trial counsel or defense counsel for a general court-martial since 2004.

The entire legal career of Tim Garrison is very much dedicated to the service of the American public. As the incumbent United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, he continues to serve in line with national security and criminal justice. The office of Timothy A.
